Willis Elmer "Shorty" Miller of Mineral Ridge, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 10:00 p.m. in Shepherd of the Valley with his family by his side. He was 86.
Mr. Miller was born in Mamont, PA on December 15, 1929, the son of the late Clair E. and Estella Weaster Miller.
He attended Stewart School Systems. Following school, Willis enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II.
Mr. Miller retired after many years as a Crain Operator for Columbia Iron & Metal in Girard, OH.
Willis was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Austintown Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3298, a lifetime member of the NAUS Club, and a member of the Mineral Ridge VFW Post 4192.
Mr. Miller cherished the times he spent in the outdoors especially while camping, fishing, hunting, and cookouts with his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy (Randy) Alfrey of Niles; a son, Clair (Denise) Miller of Niles; 2 brothers, Jay Miller of Howland and Gary (Sherry) Miller of Apollo, PA; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. Mr. Miller is also survived by his significant other Toots of Homosassa, FL.
In addition to his parents, Willis was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Beason Miller who passed away in September of 2002; a daughter, Rose L. Miller; 2 sons, Nelson and Billy Miller; 2 sisters; 3 brothers.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home and Cremation Services LLC 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Curtis Miller, pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Internment will take placed in Green Haven Cemetery, where full military honors will be rendered.
