William Madison "Bill" Swanson, 89, of Warren, died Monday, September 10, 2007 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born May 22, 1918 in Atlanta, Ga., the son of Maud and Lucy (Minter) Swanson, and had lived in the Warren area most of his life.
Mr. Swanson was a 1937 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Tech Sergeant, and received the Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Philippine Independence Medal. He had worked for Federal Machine, and for Wean Engineering as a chauffeur and as captain of the yacht "Sally Ho." Later, he worked as a real estate agent for Graham Realty and was last employed by ABC Management as manager of Hampshire House. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and an honorary member of Choir #2, with the Swansons holding many choir rehearsals in their home.
Surviving are his wife, Dalzia (Young) Swanson, whom he married June 17, 1944; his nephews Carl (Nannette) Isom and Chester (Frances) Byars; special friend Helen Currie; and a host of treasured friends and relatives. Preceding him in death are his parents and his brother, Milton Swanson.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Second Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank L. Hearns officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours are 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Friends will also be received at Bill and Dal's home in Warren.
