William J. Sedivy

William J. Sedivy age 91 of Middlefield, Oh passed away Saturday morning Oct. 25, 2014 at UH Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Twp. He was born Jan. 29, 1923 in Russell Twp. to Yaro and Emma (Baumgartner) Sedivy. He was a lifelong area resident and spent 73 years in Newbury. In 1941 he graduated from Newbury High School. Mr. Sedivy was in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 and went to the Antarctica on board ship with Admiral Byrd. After the tour of duty with the Navy he married Mary Jane "Pat" Mulcahy. Mr. Sedivy began working in the transportation field and retired from the Manfredi Motor Co. of Newbury in 1990 after 20 yrs. Hobbies and activities include being a Boy Scout leader, a Newbury School Board member, a Democratic Committeeman and was very active in Little League. He loved watching and attending his children and grandchildren"s school and sports activities.
He will be missed by family and friends especially his wife Mary Jane "Pat" of 65 years, his children Bill (Maryl) former Warren Tribune Editor of Boise, Idaho, Bob (Mary Ann) of Newbury, Jim of Middlefield and Sue (Al) Cravener of Phoenix, AZ. Also his grandchildren Beau (Tracy), Ali, Meg and Alex Sedivy, and Joe, Melissa and Marcus Cravener. And sister Marge Thomas of Chardon, Ohio.
Mr. Sedivy was preceeded in death by parents and a sister Ruth Kozeluh.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Wed. Oct. 29, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Service 15670 West High St. (Rt. 87) Middlefield, Ohio. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Geauga Senior Center or to Autismspeaks.org
