William Proctor

September 29, 1930 — March 28, 2016

William Howard Proctor of Parkman formerly of Warren, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at University Hospital Geauga Medical Center. He was 85.

Mr. Proctor was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 29, 1930, the son of the late Paul and Judith Harrelson Proctor.

Mr. Proctor proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Oriskany CV-34 from 1951 to 1955 and remained close to his Navy buddies throughout his lifetime.

William studied at the University of Illinois where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and met his wife and true love Patricia.

William retired after over thirty years of employment at Packard Electric Division of General Motors. During his time at Packard, he held several leadership positions within Industrial Engineering, Overseas Ventures and Development, Application Engineering, Business School Recruiting and Talent Development, and Product Engineering.

Mr. Proctor was very active in the community which included: Member of the First United Methodist Church; Founder of the Warren Olympic Club; Indian Guides Nation Chief; Soap Box Derby Steering Committee and Starter; Board of the Trumbull Art Guild; Founder of the National Packard Museum; and Commissioner and Coach for the Parkman Baseball Interest.

Mr. Proctor was an American Philatelic Society member since 1970 and an active member and past officer of the Warren Area Stamp Club. Stamp collecting was a lifetime interest and passion, and he shared his enthusiasm with other philatelists over the years.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Patricia Stickler Proctor, whom he married December 28, 1957; 2 daughters, Kelly (John) Casey of Cooper City, FL and Kirsten (David) Johnson of Ann Arbor, MI; 2 sons, William (Monica) Proctor of Brecksville, OH and Bryan (Aimee Walters) Proctor of Winnetka, IL; 8 grandchildren, Erin, Shannon, Nathan, Hannah, Solomon, Eleanor, Gabriel, and Miles.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Proctor; and a sister, Robbie Hansen.

At William's request a private memorial service was held at an earlier date.
