William "Curly" Platt

William T. "Curly" Platt 84, of Southington, died peacefully Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Briar Hill Health Care in Middlefield. He was born August 28, 1925 in Warren, the son of Delbert and Esther (Boyd) Platt, and lived in Trumbull County all his life.

Mr. Platt was a member of the Ohio Archeological Society, a collector of Indian artifacts, and a member of Southington Christian Church. He enjoyed singing and had a beautiful voice, playing his oboe, riding his tractor, fishing, traveling, spending winters in Arizona, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He worked as a service director for R.D. Banks Chevrolet.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou (Collier), whom he married August 2, 1947; five children: Cynthia (David) Rowles of Rootstown, Kathleen Platt and Diana (Hiram) Lopez, both of Tucson, AZ, Luana (William) Andamasaris of Niles, and Thomas (Rhonda) Platt of Kennewick, WA; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia (William) Onea of Phoenix, AZ. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Richard Platt.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Southington Christian Church, with Rev. Randall Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren. Friends may call 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 at the church. Material contributions may be made to Southington Christian Church, 3285 State Route 534, Southington, Ohio 44470.
