William A. Gorse, 84, of Warren, died Monday, July 4, 2005 at Windsor House of Champion. He was born December 15, 1920 in Warren, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Simcic Gorse, and had lived in the Warren area all his life.

Mr. Gorse was a 1939 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and served as a bombadier and navigator with the Army Air Corps in World War II. He retired as manager of engineering at Copperweld Steel in 1985, after 46 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed golf, bowling, and taking care of his home.

Surviving Mr. Gorse are his wife, Elsie Barnabo Gorse, whom he married May 30, 1944; three children: William A. Gorse, Jr. of Washington, D.C., Barbara (Rodger) Palmer of Arnold, Md., and Catherine (Gary) Bush of Concord, Ohio; four grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Gorse of Warren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Gorse.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Inurnment will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland. There are no calling hours. Material contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 232 Seneca N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481.
