William F. Fleming

d. April 15, 2007

William F. Fleming, 49, of Howland, died Sunday, April 15, 2007 after a sudden illness, while vacationing with his family in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was born March 20, 1958 in Warren, the son of William D. and Ann H. (Pettigrew) Fleming, and had lived in the Warren area all his life.

Bill was a graduate of Howland High School and attended Miami (Ohio) University on a baseball scholarship. He was a great pitcher at the high school and college levels, and played AA hardball into his late thirties.

He carried his love for baseball throughout his life, and after his playing days were over, he coached girls' softball, boys' Little League, Howland High School, and Grove City College. As a college coach, he guided Grove City to its best record in thirty years. His 11 year-old Little League team became Ohio state champions in 2006.

He had been employed early at Republic Steel and later became a contractor/developer. His greatest labor of love was Camden Pond of Howland.

He enjoyed hunting, boating, snowmobiling, and vacationing at Lake George, N.Y., where he had gone since childhood. His greatest joy came from his family, and especially watching his children participate in sports.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Susan R. (Seem) Fleming, whom he married December 2, 1989; his children, Brittany S. Fleming and Ryan W. Fleming; his sisters, Cheryl (Dr. Gary) Young and Laurie Ligouri, both of Poland; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Janet Seem of Howland; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Laurie and David Moore of Hudson; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Melinda Seem of Howland; two nieces, Kristin Ligouri and Ashley Seem; and eight nephews: Keith, Kurt, Korey, Kyle, and Kris Young, Joe Ligouri, Christopher Moore, and Matthew Seem. His parents precede in him death.
