W. Leo Keating

Warren, Ohio - W. Leo Keating , 91, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Hospice House of Poland after a short illness. Leo was born on January 4, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late George and Marguerite (Besner) Keating.

Leo was an attorney with Keating & Keating Attorneys at Law in Warren. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Ohio State Bar Assoc., Trumbull County Bar Assoc., Lawyer-Pilots Bar Assoc., National Health Lawyers Assoc., American Academy of Hospital Attorneys. He served on the board of directors of the Sacred Heart Retreat House, the Steamship Historical Society, and was an avid pilot, a world traveler, and loved to spend time at his chalet in Quebec, Canada.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in 1943 and received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Marquette University Law School in 1950. He served as Warren City Law Director for 1954-1957.

Leo was a veteran in the Asiatic-Pacific theater during World War II with the US Army, with the 25th Infantry Div. He participated in the landings of Guadalcanal and Vella Lavella in the Solomon Islands, and Luzon, Philippines and earned 3 Bronze Battle Stars.

Memories of Leo will be carried on by his; daughter, Kathryn (Paul) Ayres of Twinsburg, Ohio; son; James (Bernadette) Keating of Warren, son; Michael (Mary Jane) Keating of Lenoir City, TN, daughter; Maureen (Timothy) Barrett of Lyndhurst, Ohio; son; Atty. Patrick (Diana) Keating of Hudson, OH, son and law partner; Atty. Daniel (Taryn) Keating of Niles, OH, and 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives; Louise Heltzel, and Agnes I. Larocque, 3 brothers; George, Lewis, and Laurence Keating.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at McFarland & Son Funeral Home in Warren. Services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 with Rev. Fr. Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Services of final committal with full military honors will follow at All Souls Cemetery, Cortland, OH.
