Virginia M. (Shetler) Waldron, 89, of Poland died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 19, 1919 in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of John and Lula Mae (Tidd) Stowe.
Mrs. Waldron had been employed at The Manufacturers' Association of Eastern Ohio & Western Pennsylvania for sixteen and a half years as an administrative assistant before she retired. In addition she served as Deaconess, Trustee, Financial Secretary, Sunday School Superintendent, Board Chairman, teacher and clerk for Bolindale Christian Church as well as serving two terms as president for the Professional Secretaries International. She was awarded Secretary of the Year in 1968 and was the Assistant Director for the Trumbull County Civil Defense for six years. Virginia served as the secretary to the Governor's Traffic Committee and for twenty years as Secretary to the Warren City Traffic and Safety Committee. She was also very active in the Warren Christian Woman's Club.
Virginia wed John C. Shetler on July 3, 1937 and enjoyed 39 years together before his passing on July 30, 1976. She was fortunate enough to find love again and married James A. Waldron on February 16, 1980 who passed away November 24, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann (Roger) Rupe of Boardman; a son, Jack (Sandra) Shetler of Poland; six grandchildren, Laurie (Douglas) Thomas of Lakeland FL, Dr. Randall (Kimberly) Lonsbrough of Los Osos, CA, Glenn Van Stavern of Leawood, Ks, Jennifer (Jeffery) Brandt of Mansfield, TX, Brenda Hill and Jack Shetler Jr. both of Howland; also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, five step-children, many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren two brothers and one sister. Proceeding her in death are: John C. Shetler, James A. Waldron, one step-son, three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday December 1, 2008, at the Bolindale Christian Church, 2749 Fairview Ave SE, Warren, OH 44484, with Rev. Donald Barnes of Cortland Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park.
