Viola Eliza Barrass

San Antonio, Texas - Viola Eliza Barrass, 95, formerly of Warren, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on July 12, 1920 in North Braddock, PA, the daughter of the late James and Goldie Miller Finnell.

Mrs. Barrass graduated from McKees Rocks (PA) High School in 1938. She also graduated from Warren Business College and Choffin School of Practical Nursing in Youngstown in 1970. She was employed by Trumbull Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement in 1982. An active member of the First United Methodist Church of Warren for over 65 years, she served on the Evangelism committee, was a member of the Friendship and Epworth classes and the Keenagers Group. She also taught the Senior Adult Sunday school class for several years. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and gardening.

Memories of Viola will be carried on by daughter, Viola M. (Charles) Jordan of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Amir, Melissa Jordan, Charissa Sowell, Steven Barrass, and Patrick Barrass; great-grandchildren, Steven James Barrass, Marisa Barrass, Stevie Barrass, Briana Barrass, Naomi Sowell, Andrew Sowell, Joseph Amir, Ariella Amir, Christian Barrass, Nicolas Barrass, Eliza Raquel, and Jordan Chavez; one great-great-grandchild; seven nieces and nephews; and twenty-one great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Paul H. Barrass, Sr.; son, Paul H. Barrass, Jr.; grandsons, Paul H. Barrass, III and Bert Barrass; sister, Iola Natalia Finnell; brothers, Robert Miller Finnell, Gilbert Theodore Finnell, John Virgil Finnell, and James Webb Finnell.

Family will receive friends Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Yesudas Devadan officiating. Private service of final committal will be at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
