U. Margaret Adams

U. Margaret Adams, 89, of Warren, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles. She was born February 13, 1921 in Castle Cary, Somerset, England, the daughter of Charles Henry and Lilian Kate (Caunter) Harwood, and had lived in the United States since May, 1946, becoming a proud U.S. citizen.

Mrs. Adams retired in 1981 from Warren City Schools, where she had worked as a food service helper. A member of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Angelus Sunday School class, she also belonged to the Trans-Atlantic Brides & Parents Association, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, the Warren Area Rose Association, and to the local knitting guild. Her roses won awards at the Trumbull and Canfield fairs.

Surviving are three children: Christopher P. (Barbara) Adams of Girard, Gene C. (Deanna M.) Adams of Warren, and Megan L. (Curtis) Gibbs of Warren; two granddaughters: Adrienne (Max) Slanina and Lauren Adams; a sister, Barbara Couch of Cardiff, Wales; a brother, Patrick Harwood of Cardiff, Wales; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Hubert A. Adams, whom she married August 6, 1946 and who died July 1, 1997.

Services are 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Friends may call 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made to Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, 155 Tod Ave., N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485.
