Tony Desalvo

Tony DeSalvo, 88 of Windham, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at home. He was born January 23, 1922 in Napoleonville, La., the son of Nick and Lucy (Alessandro) DeSalvo.

A member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Windham and the Knights of Columbus, Mr. DeSalvo worked as a press operator for General Refractories, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening, and enjoying the view from his recliner.

Surviving are his wife, Frances (Chiarenza) DeSalvo, whom he married June 10, 1944; three children: Nick DeSalvo of Windham, Lucy (Jon) Jeffries of Stow, and Mary (Kevin) Wert of Windham; a daughter-in-law, Nancy DeSalvo of Newton Falls; seven grandchildren: Kelly Bennett, Brandon and Morgan DeSalvo, Anthony and Joshua (Golda) Jeffries; Kristi (Shawn) Yerian, and Megan Wert; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace (Salvadore) DeBattiste of New Orleans, La.; and two brothers: Jack DeSalvo of Windham and Vince (Rita) DeSalvo of Champion. Preceding him in death are his parents; a son, Ed DeSalvo; and a brother, Frank DeSalvo.

Services are 12:00 noon Friday, February 19, 2010 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Fr. James Lang officiating. Interment will follow at Windham Township Cemetery. Friends may call 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon Friday at the church. Material contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 9736 E. Center St., Windham, Ohio 44288.
