Thomas P. O'Rourke

Thomas P. O'Rourke, 78, of Cortland, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Forum Health-Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born February 11, 1928 in Columbus, the son of John L. and Helen B.(Durkin)O'Rourke.

Mr. O'Rourke served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a 1956 graduate of Ohio State University. He founded the O'Rourke Electric Company in 1969 and served as its president until he retired. He was a member of St. Roberts Catholic Church, the Warren Rotary, Knights of Columbus #620, BPO Elks #295, and several building trades organizations.

Surviving are his wife, Mary L. (Snyder) O'Rourke, whom he married November 22, 1956; five children: Colleen (Brett) Wadsworth of Odessa, Fla., Maureen O'Rourke of Columbus, Noreen (Alexander) Kinzler of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kevin (Lisa) and Sean O'Rourke, both of Cortland; eight grandchildren: Zachary and Katie Wadsworth of Odessa, Fla., Jarrett and Ryan Steiner of Columbus, Sean, Kevin, and Timothy Kinzler of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Alayna O'Rourke of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; two sisters: Mary Helen and Elizabeth R. O'Rourke; and three brothers: John T., Philip D., and Daniel O'Rourke.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2006 at St. Roberts Catholic Church, with Fr. Carl Kish officiating. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 9:00 to 10:00 AM Saturday at the church.
