WARREN - Sgt. Marco Laven Miller, 36, 2418 Linda Drive N.W., Warren, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, from a combat-related injury.
He was born on March 18, 1970, in Warren, a son of Van Singletary and Renee Butler-Miller. Formerly of Orlando, Fla., he lived in the Warren area for 12 years. He was a 1988 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.
Sgt. Miller was a combat cameraman and chemical specialist for the U.S. Army for 16 years. He served with the 3rd Battalion Support Company, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He was enlisted in the Army from 1990 to 1994 and in the Florida National Guard in 2001. He served in Operation Iraq Freedom IV, and achieved the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Asia SerArmed Forces Reserve Medal with 'M' device, Army Service Ribbon and Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star, Florida Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Florida Active Duty Award, Florida Meritorious Service Medal, Brazilian Parachutist Badge, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
He was also the owner of Killa Entertainment for four years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, videography and sports.
He is survived by his mother, Renee Miller Daniels of Warren; daughter Tamia Michelle Miller of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Demond Miller of Fern Park, Fla.; two sisters, Ms. Meka Miller and Ms. Kim Miller, both of Dale City, Va.; two stepsisters, Joreane Harris and Carrie McGhee, both of Warren; three stepbrothers, Raymond (Buddy) Currie of Austintown, Jason Currie of North Hollywood, Calif., and Scott Currie of Visalia, Calif.; and grandmother Julia Butler of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Van Singletary, and stepfather, Anthony Daniels.
The funeral service will be noon Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Grace AME Church, where calling hours will be for two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, 2415 Linda Drive N.W., Warren.
