Russell Lee Pearson of Youngstown, passed away on Friday (9-26-14) at 6:10 a.m. in his residence. He was 80.
He was born June 24, 1934 in Youngstown, OH, the son of Edward VanBurston and Sarah Jane Collins Pearson.
Mr. Pearson was a 1952 graduate of The Rayen School. In 1956 following their entrepreneurial spirit, Russell and his brother started Pearson's Floor Covering which remained in business for over 55 years. Russell also went on to own and operate a Dairy Queen in Brookfield, OH from 1990 to 1997.
Russell was an active member of the Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church in Youngstown, where he served as a board member and usher for many years. He was a hard worker and dedicated himself to his profession, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family.
His wife the former Janet Marie Carrozzino Pearson whom he married on August 24, 1955, passed away on February 3, 2013.
He is survived by his a daughter, Nancy (Daniel) O'Brien of Brookfield, OH; a son, Douglas (Tracy) Pearson of Youngstown; a brother, William (Sally) Pearson of Hubbard; 5 grandchildren, Bailey, Dylan, and Donovan O'Brien, Tyler Pearson, and Bridgette Vance; 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Lincoln.
In addition to his parents and wife, Russell was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Pearson and a sister, Lois Howells.
