Roy Eugene "Gene" Chalker, 78, of Warren, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born May 10, 1930 in Warren, the son of Roy F. and Margaret (Turner) Chalker, and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.
Mr. Chalker was a graduate of Lordstown High School and retired, after 35 years as a metallurgical assistant, from Thomas Steel Strip, where he had been active with the NEMS Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren and was active in the adult Sunday School classes and the church's Navigators. He enjoyed his family, playing cards, spending time in his yard, and reading.
Surviving are two children, Charles Chalker of Warren and Ruth (Moses) Rambissoon of Ocoee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Joshua Kerr of Knoxville, Tenn., and Amanda Kerr of Dayton, Tenn.; a sister, Marilyn (Bill) Lisby of Cortland; and three nieces: Linda Burke of Cortland, Susan Sutch of New Jersey, and Patty Malloy of Chicago, Ill. His parents precede him in death.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Rusty Cowden officiating. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Private burial of his urn will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483.
