Roland P. Hahn

Dr. Roland Paul (Ernst) Hahn, 94, retired dentist and long time Warren resident, died on Friday, October 15, 2004 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, Howland. He was born April 23, 1910 in Cleveland, the son of Edward Charles and Julia Louise Schaedel Hahn.

Dr. Hahn graduated from Christ Lutheran Church School in 1923 and West Technical High School, Cleveland in 1927. He attended Ohio State University and graduated in 1934 from the College of Dentistry as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He served a year internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland and began his practice of dentistry on West 25th St. in Cleveland. He moved to the Stone Building, Warren in June, 1937 and then to West Market Street. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corp from April 1944 until 1946 and practiced dentistry for 50 years, retiring in 1985.

From 1942 until 2 1/2 years ago, he resided at 1228 Genesee Ave., Warren. He was a communicant of Emmanuel Lutheran Church since 1938. He was a member of the Corydon Palmer Dental Society, the YMCA, and the Warren Kiwanis Club. He had many interests including tennis (Cleveland West Tech and OSU), hunting, fishing, photography, piano, physical fitness, travel, and golf.

He follows in death his parents; his devoted wife of 37 years, Olwen Mary Evans of Flushing, OH; his brothers Edward of Huntsville, AL and Ellwood of Cleveland; and his friend, Dr. Howard Leininger of Euclid, Ohio.

He is survived by his son Edward Evans Hahn, M.D. and daughter-in-law Catherine Foran of Savannah, GA; his daughter, Sarah Jane Fabian of Charlottesville, VA; his grandchildren: Olwen Mary Hahn, M.D. of Chicago, IL, Emily Elaine Hahn of Austin, TX, Erik Michael Fabian of Chicago, IL, and Amanda Marie Fabian of Columbus, OH; and his good friend, Clara Leach of Warren.

Services for Dr. Hahn will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485, with Rev. Kelly Faulstich officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 9:00 to 10:00 AM Thursday at the church. Material contributions may be made to the YMCA of Trumbull County, 210 High St. N.W. Warren, Ohio 44481.
