Robert Ernest “Bob” Schwarz of Ashtabula Twp. Passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 1:09 a.m. with his family by his side. He was 84.
Bob was born on July 10, 1935 in Ashtabula, the son of the late Harold and Laura Bratton Schwarz.
He was a 1953 graduate of Edgewood High School. Following high school, Mr. Schwarz proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Bob was stationed in Germany in the 3rd Armored Division.
Mr. Schwarz later worked several years for Union Carbide and a local railroad yard before becoming a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, with whom he retired in 1990 after 30 years.
Bob enjoyed music and sang baritone in the Ashtabula Town Choir. He and his wife, Mary, were always looking for a Polka Dance to attend. They are members of the Ashtabula Lighthouse Society. Bob’s favorite hobbies were stamp collecting, gardening, and traveling. His garden was the pride of his family and his vacation photos always had a story to tell.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (DeGeorge) Schwarz of Ashtabula, 6 sons; Karl (Debbie) of Ashtabula, Kurt (Sue) of Vermillion, Paul of Concord, Steven (Michaelle) of Krum, TX, Eric (Julene) of Hamburg, NY, Ivan (Christine) of Ashtabula, daughter Tara (Terry) Miller of Perry, and ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother Richard C. Schwarz and two grandchildren, Marcus and Shain Schwarz.
