Robert S. Sheets

RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. - Robert S. Sheets, 82, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 24, 2006, in California.

He was born on Jan. 10, 1924, in Columbiana and studied at Kent State University after serving overseas in the Army for two years. He operated Leavittsburg Hardware for 36 years and was active in the Methodist Church and Rotary clubs both in Ohio and in Rancho Bernardo, Calif., where he and his wife retired.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Jean McGarr Sheets; and is survived by his companion, Claire Kegley; his son, Dale (Monica) Sheets; his daughter, Lori Sheets; and his granddaughter, Kaylynn, all of California; his brother, Carl (Margaret) Sheets of Salem; and his sister-in-law, Janice (Ray) Bland of Warren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 12, 2006, at Hope Methodist Church in Rancho Bernardo. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or to the Children's Rehabilitation Center, 885 Howland Wilson Road, Warren, Ohio 44484.

Arrangements were handled by El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, Calif.
