WARREN - Robert W. Schweinfurth, 81, passed away Tuesday Evening, October 21, 2008.
Robert was born December 3, 1927 in Marion, Ohio, the son of Wilfred and LaVonne Schweinfurth.
He attended both Miami University and the Ohio State University where he graduated in Electrical Engineering. While at Marion High School in band, he met and later married in 1949 his loving wife, Anne Reed, and had 59 years together.
Upon graduation from Ohio State, Robert was employed at Ohio Edison for 38 years and retired as the Warren Division Superintendent. While at Ohio Edison, he obtained his Professional Engineer's license from the State of Ohio.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Grand Lodge of Ohio, a lifelong member and Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, lifetime member of the NRA, member of the Warren Radio Club, Warren Gun Club, Vienna Fish and Game Club, Warren Library Association, The Ohio State Alumni Association, Auxiliary-Volunteer Handicap Parking Enforcement Unit, and a VITA income tax volunteer.
Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church and also attended the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Warren. He was an avid lover of dogs, enjoyed volunteering in the community, travel, camping, reading, bridge, and competitive shooting. He loved his family, friends, a good western, Ohio State, and marching band music.
He was preceded by his parents and daughter, Cheryl Anne. He is survived by his wife Anne; sons Dodd (wife Carol) in New Orleans, Bill (wife Sharon Southard) in Rochester, N.Y.; daughters Heidi Slagle (husband Jim) in Marion, OH., Julie Imbler (husband Jim) in Littleton, CO, and brother Don C. Schweinfurth in Marion, OH. Robert is also survived by six grandchildren Rob, Chris and Elizabeth Imbler, and Lauren, Betsy, and Emily Slagle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library - Howland Branch and the Warren Salvation Army.
Family and friends may call from 11AM - 1 PM at the Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland -Wilson Road NE, Warren, OH on Saturday October 25, 2008. A celebration of life service will follow immediately after calling hours.
