Robert Charles Kopetsky of Niles, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at 9:55 p.m. in his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81.
Mr. Kopetsky was born January 11, 1933 in York Run, PA, a son of John J. and Margaret Danko Kopetsky.
He was a graduate of Georges High School in York Run, PA.
Following high school, Robert was drafted in the United States Army. He served in Germany during the Korean War and received numerous awards during his time served.
Robert retired in 2004 as a tow motor operator for General Motors in Lordstown.
Mr. Kopetsky was a member of St. Stephen Parish. He enjoyed watching various sports, from baseball and football, to basketball where earlier in life he excelled as a talented athlete. He was always active and appreciated the outdoors where he spent a lot of his time.
His first wife, the former Joanne Dawson Kopetsky, passed away August 8, 1985. His second wife, the former Susan Marie Remner Kopetsky, whom he married August 2, 1990, survives at home.
Surviving are: 2 sons, Robert Charles Kopetsky of Anderson, CA and Michael Stephen Kopetsky of Niles; a step-daughter, Kimberly Ann and her husband Dennis Ferguson of Leigh Acres, FL; a step-son, Kenneth A. Stinson of Youngstown; 2 step grandchildren, Kenneth and Hunter Stinson.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Shemik and a brother John Kopetsky.
