Robert S. Jones

Brookline, MA - Robert S. Jones, 84, formerly of Chesterland and Warren, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at The Goddard House, Brookline, MA. He was born July 4, 1930 in Warren, the son of the late Judge Sydney W. and Mareen Herlinger Jones.

Mr. Jones graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, class of 1948. He went on to Mount Union College, graduating in the 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He enlisted in the Air Force and served his country during the Korean War. He attended law school at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. Mr. Jones came back to Warren in 1958, joining the law firm of Guarnieri and Secrest.

In 1961 Mr. Jones married the former Shirley King of Canton, Ohio, and practiced general law for approximately 10 years. As a corporate attorney he worked for the E. W. Bliss Company in Canton, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Glidden Paint in Cleveland, and the federal government in Cleveland and Alameda, CA.

Mr. Jones is survived by son, Theodore (Katherine Wahl) Jones, Brookline, MA; step-son, Jeffrey (Bette) Jamison of Valley Glen, CA; and step-daughter, Marcia (Charlie) Vinopal of Park Ridge, IL. He was a loving grandfather to Claire, Ted, Courtney, Charlie, Peter and Seth. He is also survived by his brother, Theodore W. Jones of Lyndhurst.

Preceding him in death was Shirley, his beloved wife of 40 years, who passed away in 2001. They were devoted to each other as solid partners in life's experiences and always strong in their religious faith. He was also preceded in death by step-son, Ralph Herlinger Jamison, who passed in 1980.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery, Warren. Full military honors will be presented.
