Robert James Hufford, 81, passed away Saturday evening, April 14, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center, Warren.
He was born in Warren Ohio on May 3, 1930, the son of William Jefferson and Edna L. (Fisher) Hufford.
Bob was a spiritual, proud, complex and passionate man. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, teacher and advisor. He was a great negotiator and enjoyed family gatherings, garage selling, auctions, fishing, the horse track, tending to his yard and being outdoors in the sunshine. Bob spent a lot of time in his workshop where he was an expert craftsman.
He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and served in the United States Air Force. He was longtime member and past-president of the Warren Area Optimist Club, a life member of VFW, Warren Post 1090 and attended worship services at First United Methodist Church in Warren.
He had a fulfilling career, having worked for Mullen's, Copperweld, Thompson Heating & Cooling, Shaffer Heating, Alcan Aluminum and Kent State University Trumbull Campus.
He operated two businesses, a woodworking business, Skid Row Classics and R.J. Enterprises, a family operated business.
Memories of Robert will be carried on by his five children; Wayne Hufford, Barbara (Victor) Burnett, Bill (Denise) Hufford, Linda (David) Stanford and Tim Hufford; five grandsons Vince (Nichole) Burnett, William (Sara) Stanford, Robert (Amy) Stanford, Tony (Maggie) Hufford, Paul (Nicki) Hufford, two granddaughters Theresa (David) Williamson, Kelly (Jesse) Kuehl; seven great grandchildren Carter, Madison, Grace, Lyric, Alex, William, Sophie; his sister Peg Hufford Boda, and many friends and loved ones.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Barbara, his brothers, Richard, Fred, Lewis (Everett), Harold and his grandson Danny Hufford.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave, Warren followed by a celebration of his life in the church hall. Friends may also call in the Van Wye Room of the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
