Robert L. Frantz, Sr., 76, of Warren, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. He was born June 7, 1933 in Coulter, Pa., the son of John and Elizabeth (McCreary) Frantz.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Frantz retired from Van Huffel Tube, and later worked as a courier for St. Joseph's Hospital. An avid Notre Dame fan, he enjoyed following his grandchildren in sports, and was a fixture at Niles McKinley basketball games.
Surviving are four children: Mark R. Frantz of Niles, Gary J. (Sandy) Frantz of Georgia, Lynn (Tom) Gisewhite of Warren, and Robert L. Frantz, Jr. of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren: Jaimie, Ryan, Cory, Brian, Chandler, and Gabrielle Frantz, Scott and Megan Gisewhite, and Matthew and Sam Frantz; a sister, Mary Louise Franz of California; a brother, Jack (Mary) Frantz of Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Regina Petak. Preceding him in death are his parents and his wife, Helen (Williams) Frantz, whom he married May 16, 1952 and who died October 13, 2002.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Crumbley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Friends may call 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
