Robert R. "Pete" Crouse of Cortland, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. He was born on August 17,1961, in Warren, the son of Charles B. Crouse, Jr. and the late Margaret "Sue" (Hoppe) Crouse.
Pete was a graduate of Kiski Prep School in Saltsburg, Pa and a graduate of Youngstown State University. Since 1984 Pete has been a member of the United States Air Force reaching the rank of Tech Sergeant at the 910th Airlift Wing in Vienna Ohio. He was also employed at the FAA in Columbus, Ohio.
Pete had an endless passion for helping people regardless of their level of need. Friends and strangers alike experienced his selflessness while he demonstrated the military credo of duty, honor and service before self. Sunday activities typically included Mass with family, cooking breakfast and enjoying the day while the house filled with friends, siblings, nieces and nephews. Along with time with family, he and Kathy enjoyed attending Michael Stanley Concerts, walking with their many pets and traveling worldwide. One of Pete's favorite trips was traveling to Alaska with his brother Charlie while working on the family genealogy.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Kathleen A. (Gibson) Crouse of Cortland whom he married May 23, 1987. His father, Charles B. Crouse Jr. of Cortland and his siblings; Kelley (James) Spear of Hudson, Gail (David) Hawkins of Colorado, Anita (Mark) Stocz of Cortland, Alfred (Brenda) of Cortland, Daniel (Darlene) of Warren, Ralph of El Paso, TX, Henry of Willoughby and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Friday, April 27, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, April 28, 2012 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church 4659 Niles Cortland Rd. N.E. Cortland, Ohio 44410, with Rev. Carl Kish officiating the service. Friends may call one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
In honoring the family's requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pete's honor to The American Red Cross, 661 Mahoning Ave. N.W. Warren, Ohio 44483.
