Robert C. Burk

SEBRING - Robert C. Burk, 95, formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Crandall Medical Center, Sebring, Ohio. He was born on Christmas Day in 1919 in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Ralph and Clara (Eberhart) Burk. On April 30, 1960 he married Ruth Jane Bratton who died July 20, 2004. They moved to Copeland Oaks in 1992.
Bob was a World War II veteran having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1946 to 1949. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School in 1937, a graduate of the University of Kansas in 1949. He earned a Masters degree from Kent State University in 1964. He was a teacher and later Media Director serving the Champion School System for 23 years retiring in 1981. Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Warren and an affiliate member of the Union Avenue Methodist Church in Alliance.
Shortly after moving to Copeland Oaks he started taking photos of all the residents, a tradition that has continued to this day. Very active at Copeland Oaks, Bob was one of the founders of the video and in-house television systems that have covered the entire campus. The television studio is named in his honor.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Jane; brother, Kenneth Burk; and his sister, Marguerite Burk. He is survived by nieces and nephews: Barbara Vantuyl, Susan Frazey and Robert Burk of Lawrence, Kansas and Randy Burk of Kansas City, Missouri.
Memorial Services will be held in the Bennett Chapel of Copeland Oaks on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM. with Rev. David Perry and Rev. Yesudas Devadan officiating. A reception will follow in the Williamsburg lounge after the service. A Service of Committal will be held at Pineview Memorial Park, Warren, on Friday, February 27th at 2 PM with military honors by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
