Robert C. Bettiker

Robert C. Bettiker, 90, of Bradenton, FL, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at his son's home in Champion, Ohio. He was born May 6, 1921 at Warren, OH, son of Claude Samuel and Goldie (Hines) Bettiker.

Mr. Bettiker retired in 1976 as a Lieutenant in the Warren City Fire Dept. and moved to Florida in 1999 after spending winters there for several years. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School the class of 1939, and was the 1st president of the Warren Western Reserve's Boosters Club. He was a former member of the Old Erie Lodge #3 F&AM and was active in the Ravine Camp Corp. on Lake Eire.

Bob served in the US Navy during WW II as a pilot. After the war he served as a Naval Reservists retiring in 1981 as a US Naval Reserve Lieutenant.

Surviving are his wife the former Betty Green of Bradenton Fl. whom he married March 10, 2001, John (Dorothy) Bettiker, of Champion, OH, daughter, Vicki (Rick) Thompson, sister, Doris Bernardi, of the Philippines, sister, Lois Weir,of Cortland, OH, Grandchildren;, Stacey (Cameron) Pease, Suzy (Rob) Maddock, Erica (Russ) Miranda, Jeremy (Laura) Durch, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Bette Mae Cooper whom he married February 22, 1948 and proceeded in death November 12, 1999.

Friends will be received Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 10 - 11 am at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home where services will be held at 11:00am. The Rev. Ash Welch will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, OH. Material contributions may be made to Ohio's Choice Hospice, 1520 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44483.
