Richard Parks Putnam Sr. of Warren passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 7:14 a.m. in Cortland Healthcare Center. He was 70 years old.
Richard was born in Sandusky, OH on August 29, 1949, the son of the late Morris and Marguerite Parks Putnam.
He was a graduate of Ravenna High School. Following high school, Richard proudly served our country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Richard earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
Mr. Putnam retired in 2018 after 20 years as a taxi driver with USA Tax. He was of Christian faith. “Carp Catcher” as he was affectionately known by his close friends and family loved to spend his day with a fishing pole in his hand relaxing at his favorite fishing spot. Earlier in life, Richard enjoyed coaching his children’s baseball and football games. Watching his kids play sports and being involved in their lives brought a smile to his face. Most importantly, Richard was a family man, he cherished the memories he made and time he spent with those around him.
His wife, Robin Diane Redd Putnam passed away in 1997.
Richard is survived by 3 sons, Richard (Kendra) Putnam Jr. of Canton, Cherieto (Christina) Putnam of Warren, and Kevin Putnam of Warren; a daughter Shondel Renae Putnam of Warren; a sister Diane Powell of Ravenna; 2 brothers, Tony (Carol) Putnam of Akron and Ralph Putnam of Talladega, AL; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Phillip and Edward Putnam.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.
A private service will be held at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
