Richard Novak

Richard E. Novak, age 73, of Naples, Florida and formerly of Warren, died Sunday, November 2, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 15, 1930 to the late Edward and Lillian (Krenek) Novak, and lived in Warren from 1960 to the mid-1990s.

Mr. Novak was the CEO of Mahoning Valley Enterprises. He was one of the owners of the early franchises of McDonald's in the Warren area and in Wisconsin. He was a member of the Trumbull Country Club, Buckeye Club, Salvation Army Board, Trumbull Memorial Hospital Board, Habitat for Humanity, Naples Council on World Affairs, Naples Yacht Club, First Presbyterian Church of Naples, and a charter member of the Naples Players Guild.

Mr. Novak served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving Mr. Novak are his wife, Vilma Barbara Stepanek Novak, whom he married November 13, 1954; a son, Andrew S. (Jiwon) Novak of Hastings on Hudson, NY; a daughter, Amy E. (Shane) Rowley of New York, NY; a brother, Donald Novak of Downers Grove, Illinois; and four grandchildren: Christopher and Ashley Novak of Annapolis, Maryland; Ansen Novak of Hastings on Hudson, NY; and Finn Rowley of New York, NY.

Preceding Mr. Novak in death are his parents; a daughter, Linda Sue Novak; and a son, David E. Novak.

Arrangements are being handled by MCFARLAND AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 271 NORTH PARK AVENUE, WARREN, Ohio, where friends may call Thursday, November 6, 2003, 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Friends may also call an hour before the 1:00 PM service on Friday, November 7, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave., Warren, with Rev. Rick Oaks officiating. Entombment will be at Crown Hill Mausoleum in Vienna, Ohio.
