Richard Mills

Richard L. "Dick" Mills, 80, of Bristolville, died peacefully Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. He was born August 18, 1929 in Grove City, Pa., the son of Lester and Glenadene (Shafer) Mills, and lived in Trumbull County most of his life.

A 1947 graduate of Bristolville High School, Mr. Mills served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He fought in the infamous "frozen" Chosin Reservoir battle, and was honorably discharged at the U.S. Naval Station, Annapolis, Md. on June 6, 1952. A long-time Lions Club member, he was a member of Bristolville United Methodist Church, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #396, and served as a Bristol Township Trustee for over twenty years. He worked as a plumber for Antenucci Inc., retiring in 1992, and enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Enid (Welling) Mills, whom he married August 17, 1951; two children: Darla Mills-Metzger of Brownsburg, Ind. and Rick (Mary Ann) Mills of Howland; two grandchildren: Angela Mills, attending Mercyhurst College, and Jennifer Mills, attending Ohio University; and a brother, Edward (Lynnette) Mills of Aurora, Ohio. His parents precede him in death.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Roger A. Norton officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sager Cemetery in Bristolville. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
