Sebring - Richard R. McCleary, 84 of Sebring, formerly of Warren, OH, died Saturday, January, 23, 2010, in Crandall Medical Center, Copeland Oaks Retirement Community.
He was born August 4 1925 in Monongahela, PA. He served in the US Navy on the USS Trenton during World War II. He was employed as a pipe fitter at Republic Steel Corp for 39 years retiring in 1987. He was a licensed plumber in the Warren area.
Mr. McCleary was Past Worshipful Master of Old Erie Lodge #3, F& AM, and Past Worthy Patron of Morning Light Chapter #80, Order of the Eastern Star, a York Rite Mason, as well as an avid member of the Western Reserve High School Booster Club and Rainbow Lanes Bowling Leagues
He is survived by his wife Carol Ann (Carson) McCleary, whom he married July 28, 1946, sons; William E (Teresa) of Warren and Byron R (Anne) of Coudersport, PA and a daughter Gayle Cassidy of Niles, Grandchildren, Renee, Michael, Brenna (Paul) Childress, Kristian, and Mary and Great Grandchildren Zachary, Caitlin, Brian, Scott, Jack, and Molly. Preceded in death by is brother, Wm Henry who was killed in World War II on the USS Ingraham, Mother Florence McCleary Russ and his son-in- law Kip Cassidy.
Services will be held Wednesday, January, 27, 2010, at 1:00 friends may call at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home from 11:00 till time of service. Old Erie Lodge will conduct services at 10:45 am and full military honors presentation will follow.
