Mr. Marino was born July 18, 1927, in Niles, a son of John Francis and Matilda "Tilly" Canterucci Marino.
He was a lifelong area resident of Niles and a 1945 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.
Following high school, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Early on in life, Richard followed his entrepreneurial spirt. He owned and operated Independent Radio Taxi in Youngstown and years later he moved his business to Niles where he operated Niles Cab Company for many years. Mr. Marino retired from the Trumbull County Maintenance Department after over a decade of employment.
Richard was elected as the 1st Ward Councilman in Niles during the mid 1980's. He enjoyed his morning walks at the Eastwood Mall with his buddies, hanging out at McDonald's with his "paisanos", riding his bike, and loved to dance. He was an avid sports fan, especially football, baseball & boxing. He loved cars and all animals, rescuing many stray animals he found. Most importantly, he cherished the time spent with his family. Richard was very social and the "life of the party". He seemed to know everyone everywhere he went. He could easily strike up a conversation with any stranger. He was well liked and had a heart of gold. Richard would give you his last dollar if needed.
