Richard was a graduate of Fitch Highschool and retired from Copperweld Steel as a Millwright in 2001 after 37 years with the company.
Rich had 2 passions in life. His number 1 passion was his wife and family. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter’s families, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren, having picnics, swimming in the pond, and riding the grandchildren on his four wheeler and tractor.
His 2nd passion in life was the outdoors. One of his greatest loves was hunting. He enjoyed going on several hunting trips with his buddies. By walking in his home, you can view all of his many trophies on the wall. He also had a passion for horses. He took pleasure taking his family and friends on trail rides on the weekends.
He was also a member of the NRA and a member of the Cortland Moose Lodge 1012 for many years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Carolyn “Kay” Cooper Bistarkey, who this May 5, he would have been married to for 63 years; 3 daughters, Mary Anne (David) Plott of Kinsman, Darla (Thomas) Garlock of Farmdale, and Marilyn (Harry) Wolfe of Farmdale; 6 grandchildren, Richie (Maria) Plott, Brittany (Andy) Glass, Jake (Kacy) Garlock, Kendra (Alex) Garlock, Chelsey Wolfe, and Tyler Wolfe; and 6 great grandchildren, Harper and Renni Plott, Cash and Luke Tominey, Abigail and Addison Garlock.

He was of Christian faith. He is now at home with his Lord and Savior. Our hearts are very heavy and saddened by his passing but we are so happy that he is in the arms of Jesus. We will always be forever grateful to have such a wonderful blessing as a husband, father, and grandfather. He will be forever missed by many.
