Reynolds F. Hertfelder

Reynolds F. Hertfelder, 98, of Warren, died 1:35 PM Monday, July 12, 2004 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. He was born Wednesday, January 10, 1906, in Dettingen Unter Teck, Germany, the son of the late Christian Friedrich and Anna Marie Strahle Hertfelder.

Mr. Hertfelder came to the United States and Warren in 1922. He worked for Ohio Lamp in the tool and die room. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church; Old Erie Lodge #3, where he was past master; York Rite; the Grand Council, Royal and Selected Masons; Knights Templar; Royal Arch Masons; and the Al Koran Shriners in Cleveland. In all these groups, Mr. Hertfelder held a variety of offices. Mr. Hertfelder had been an accomplished woodworker, an avid reader, and a great storyteller. He enjoyed traveling and knew a great deal of history of Warren.

Surviving Mr. Hertfelder are his nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mr. Hertfelder in death are his parents; his beloved wife Ruth Heinlein Hertfelder, whom he married July 27, 1935 and who died January 9, 2004; and three brothers: Siegfried, Erwin, and Karl Hertfelder.

Services for Mr. Hertfelder will be 11:00 AM Thursday at McFarland and Son Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, with Rev. Ted Schaffer officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday. Masonic services will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485.
