Raymond W. Stevenson, 81 of Garrettsville, OH, died Friday, August 4, 2006 in Lakewood Hospital, Lakewood, Ohio He was born October 18, 1924 in New Castle, PA, the son of the late Walter and Melissa May Johnson Stevenson.
He served in World War II in the US Army with Co. K 23rd Infantry, where he was awarded The Purple Heart, European Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and WWII Victory Medal.
Mr. Stevenson retired Sept. 1980 from LTV Steel in Youngstown. He was a member of SOAR District 01, Local 01462. He was a life member of VFW Post 3332, life member of American Legion Post 236, life member of Disabled American Veterans Post 139819 and the Army-Navy Club and the Country Music Association
Surviving are daughter, Ruth M. "Cookie" (Edward) Adams of Lakewood, OH; 4 grandchildren, Chris Hughes, Cyndi Causey, Eddie Adams, Heather Morway; 6 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Connor, Tyler, Adam, Joshua; 2 brothers, Dean (Marge) Stevenson of Youngstown, OH and Coy E. (Mary Jane) Stevenson of Austintown, OH. He was preceded in death by a brother Bill and a sister Mary Ann.
Services will be held Thursday, August 10, at THE McFARLAND AND SON FUNERAL HOME, at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. James Baer officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the Thursday service. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
