Raymond A. Norton

Raymond A. Norton, 92, of Warren, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. He was born December 15, 1917 in Donora, Pa., the son of Joseph John and Sarah (Corbett) Norton, and had lived in Warren since 1942.

Mr. Norton worked as credit manager for Copperweld Steel, retiring in 1979. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he enjoyed telling jokes, golfing, the Cleveland sports teams, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy (O'Donnel) Norton, whom he married July 2, 1942; seven children: Judge Thomas F. (Nancy) Norton of Warren, Richard R. (Patricia) Norton of Scottsdale, Ariz., John C. (Deborah) Norton of Cincinnati, Patrick J. (Cathy) Norton of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mary Kay Ridenour of Hunker, Pa., Michael J. (Diane) Norton of Cortland, and Barbara J. (Christophe) Gietz of Sylvania, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Gilmore Norton of Bloomsburg, Pa. Preceding him in death are his parents; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Norton; three sisters: Elizabeth Daugherty Terza, Helen J. Norton, and Margaret Mary Norton McConville; and five brothers: John Corbett Daugherty, and James Joseph, Eugene Bernard, Ralph William, and Paul Edward Norton.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Friends may call 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home.
