R. Jane Bixler

R. Jane Bixler, 83, of Howland, died at home on the morning of Friday, April 1, 2005. She was born Thursday, January 5, 1922, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late George and Minnie Wighton Parry, and had lived in the Warren area since 1969.

Jane was a member of Howland United Methodist Church and the Trumbull Country Club. She volunteered at Trumbull Memorial Hospital with the Pink Ladies, at Trumbull New Theatre, and the Trumbull Town Hall. She was active in civic organizations in every community in which she lived, and active with her husband in his career. She loved knitting, gardening, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing golf, playing bridge with the girls, dancing, traveling, and being with family and friends. She was a friend to all that she met.

Jane is survived by her husband, David C. Bixler, Jr., whom she married March 2, 1946; a son, David C. (Kristine) Bixler III of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela B. (Dale) Gerus of Akron; a grandson, Jeffrey (Denise) Thompson of Northridge, Calif; and two great-grandchildren: Michael and Samantha Thompson.

Preceding Jane in death are her parents and a brother, Willis Parry.

Services for Jane will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 7, 2005 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, with Rev. Scott Purdum of Howland United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Boardman. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday. Material contributions may be made to Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland Wilson Rd.
