Philip “Phil” Warner Laughlin, musician and artist of Warren, Ohio, passed away on April 8th, 2024 at the age of 88.
He leaves behind his wife Alesia Battista of Warren who he married in 1975 and his daughter Patricia Laughlin, of Warren, Ohio, amongst many family members and friends.
From a young age, Phil experienced many adventures through his artistic talents. In his hometown and favorite place to be, Oberlin, Phil’s life was surrounded by music, the arts, and many talented relatives. While growing up around the arts, his talents came naturally, as Phil had a great love for music and became a talented drummer and flute player. While his heart belonged to Jazz music, Phil loved learning and playing all forms. While in the US Army, Phil’s musical talents were discovered by others and earned him a promotion from ditch digger to entertainer for the troops. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and helping others learn to grow in the entertainment field.
Alongside his love for music, Phil was an outstanding artist. This talent showed with his watercolor paintings, where at the age of 10, the paintings were looked at as though they were created by a seasoned artist. He later developed his art by painting in the abstract style and went on to sell more than 250 of his painting throughout the United States and within various art galleries.
Phil loved food and the art of BBQ. He was known by his friends and family for his BBQ sauce and chicken glaze.
Phil was a very sweet husband, father and friend to everyone that knew and loved him.
Philip joins in death his brother William Laughlin; Bobby Laughlin; his mother Phyllis Laughlin; and his father Paul Warner.
