Pearl J. Lancaster, 94, formerly of Warren, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Monterey Care Center in Grove City, Ohio. She was born October 25, 1915 in Youngstown, the daughter of Alfred and Edith (Krause) Brown, and had lived in Grove City since 1994, coming from Warren.
A member of both St. John's Lutheran Church in Grove City and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Howland, Mrs. Lancaster worked for the Boy Scouts at Camp Chickagami in Parkman for many years with her husband, Donald, the camp ranger. She had also worked as a sales clerk in Warren, Youngstown, and Middlefield.
Surviving are her children: Pearlene E. (Michael) Uhrin of Grove City, and Eugene V. (Carol) Lancaster of Bristolville; four grandchildren: John Uhrin, Michele Buckingham, Mark Lancaster, and Lynn Whitmore; and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Donald E. Lancaster, whom she married March 30, 1940 and who died August 31, 2002; a granddaughter, Jill Lancaster; three sisters: Betty Keifer, Dorothy Shallenberger, and Virginia Steinberg; and two brothers, Wilber and Vernon Brown.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home in Warren, with Rev. Norman Schinkel officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park. Friends may call 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
