WARREN - Paul D. Varley, 68, who died peacefully, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 7, 1946 in Warren, the son of the late Herbert and Ruth Ronyak Varley.

He was a 1964 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School where he earned his Varsity letter for three years as the manager of the football team, from 1961-1963. He was a member of WGH's first undefeated team in 1962 and continued his support for Warren's sports all his life. He was fortunate to attend the 1964 Cleveland Brown's World Championship Game.

Paul was an outstanding member of AA for over 45 years of uninterrupted sobriety where he volunteered his time and energy to helping others. He unselfishly served as St. Mary's Pastoral Care Program at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for over 20 years and was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Church in Warren.

He was employed by Van Huffel Steel Corp for almost 20 years and served in the US Navy, 6th Fleet during the Vietnam era.

Memories of Paul will be carried on by his brothers, James E. (Anne) Varley, Dennis G. (Kimberly) Varley of both of Warren, Joseph D. (Barbara) Varley, M.D. of Akron, OH, sister, Mary V. (Thomas) Petro of Gainesville, FL, also nieces and nephews, Nancy and Joseph Petro, and Shawn, Ryan, Julie, John, Jacob, Matthew, Zachary, Thomas Varley, and his great niece, Emma Varley.

Paul's family will gather and receive friends Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church, Monday January 5, 2015 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Services of final committal and military honors will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
