Paul F Hughes, 80 ,of Alva Ave N.W., Warren, OH. died on Saturday, August 14, 2004, Warren, Ohio. He was born on Sunday, November 18, 1923, in Youngstown, OH the son of John and Mary (Rodgers) Hughes who were born in County Mayo Ireland. He retired from Packard Electric Div of GM as a tool and die maker. He was married to Joyce (Brunton) Hughes on May 28, 1949, who preceded him in death on April 4, 1993.
Mr. Hughes served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II serving from April 17 1943 to Jan 6, 1946 attaining rank of Tech Sgt. He served in Normandy, Southern France and Rhineland and fought in The Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of K of C #620; and was a charter member and Past President of Seven Seventeen Credit Union, also serving on the Board of Directors. He as well belonged to St. Williams Church, enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Judith (Charles) Harpster, of Harper Woods, MI; Jacqueline (Rick) Goodman, of Erie, PA; Jennifer Hughes, of Warren; Patricia (Rick) Thompson of Brighton, CO; 5 sons , Paul C Hughes, of Champion; Michael Hughes, of Western Spring IL; Stephen (Lori) Hughes, of Champion; James (Marcia) Hughes, of Bazetta, OH; and Daniel Hughes of Champion; 2 sisters Cecilia Limber of Cortland and Louise Hughes of Warren; 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. A daughter Janet and son Mark Hughes and brother Robert have proceeded in death.
Funeral Mass for Mr. Hughes will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 11:00 AM at St. Williams Catholic Church in Champion where friends may call one hour prior to the service in the church narthex. Calling hours will be at The McFarland & Son Funeral Home, 271 N. Park Ave., Warren Tuesday August 17, 2004 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM The Rev. Fr. Michael Smar will officiate with internment following at All Souls Cemetery.
