Patricia Martof of Warren passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 12:50 a.m. in her residence with her loving family by her side. She was 85 years old.
Patricia was born on January 5, 1936 in Warren, the daughter of the late Albert K. and Anna Lazor Bartko.
She was a 1953 graduate of Hubbard High School where she was a majorette. Her time as a majorette inspired a love for dancing that carried on through her adult life, entering competitions and participating in jitterbug dances throughout the valley.
Earlier in life, Patricia was employed at Standard Transformer where she was a switchboard operator. She retired from the former Bank One where she began her career as a teller and worked her way up the corporate ladder to the proof center and at the time of her retirement in 1986, she was a loan officer.
Patricia was a member of St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren. She made beautiful blankets and afghans for her family to treasure. Ms. Martof also was known to make clothes for her children over the years. She had a green thumb for landscaping her home, to the fresh vegetables she grew in her gardens. Patricia was an excellent cook but also admired her son in laws ability to prepare a wonderful home cooked meal. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cats. She will be sadly missed by her two cats Angel and Valentino. Patricia could be found traveling to various malls, which would turn into all day shopping experiences. She found relaxation overlooking her flower beds while watching the birds and listening to her windchimes strike a note in the gentle summer breeze. Her family will remember her for her sense of humor and her devotion as a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Patricia Martof of Warren and Deborah (Robert) Wheeland of Niles; 2 brothers, Albert Bartko Jr. of Louisville, KY and John J. (Jeannette) Bartko of Warren; a grandson, Dusty Wheeland; 3 great grandchildren, Derrick Dennison, Sionna Wheeland, and Austin Ward.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by a grandson Scott Wheeland.
On behalf of Patricia’s family, they would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her physician, Dr. Subash Khaterpaul and would like to thank SouthernCare Hospice for the love and support they showed their mother during her final days.
