Norma Jean Duncan, 78, of Warren, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. She was born January 16, 1931 in New Brighton, Pa., the daughter of Edward H. and Anna (Bell) Wurzel, and had lived in Trumbull County since 1953.
A graduate of New Brighton High School, Mrs. Duncan was a member of the Tod Avenue United Methodist Church in Warren, where she was involved with the Trinity Class and the Willing Workers. She was also active with United Steelworkers Local 1375 and its Retirees Rainbow Breakfast Group, Scope, AARP, and was a charter member of Soar Chapter 28-5.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence J. Duncan, Sr., whom she married July 4, 1953; three sons: Lawrence J. (Vicki) Duncan, Jr. of McKinney, Tex., Dale R. Duncan of Austintown, and Christopher E. Duncan of Middleburg Heights; a grandson, Jared (Sarah) Duncan; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Melvin "Bud" Wurzel of Beaver Falls, Pa. Preceding her in death are her parents; a sister, Mary Alice Ryan; and four brothers: Edward H., Jr., Donald C., and Robert C. Wurzel, and Warren J. Brewer.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Tod Ave.United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Friends may call 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
