Neil E. Porter

Neil E. Porter, 80, of Warren, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1928 in Hiram, the son of Clyde and Frances (Holcomb) Porter.

Mr. Porter served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1983 after 30 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office. He belonged to many organizations and enjoyed cards, walking, and reptiles.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma (Thaxton) Porter, whom he married June 5, 1959; two daughters, Janie L. (Donald) Conway of Johnston and Lori (Doug) Gollan of Vienna; five grandchildren: Nicole (Kenny) Stafford, Kevin Conway, Douglas Jr., Justin, and Breanne Gollan; and a great-grandson, Kenny Stafford, Jr. His parents and a sister precede him in death.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. David Black of Calvary Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N.
