WARREN - Following weeks with family and friends, Nancy C. Andrews, 81, died peacefully on January 1, 2016. She was born on September 3, 1934 in East Palestine Ohio, the daughter of the late William S. and Lucille Taylor George.
Nancy was a graduate of East Palestine High School and attended Monmouth College in Illinois, where she met her husband Fred. After Fred graduated in 1953, they moved to Ohio and lived there happily for the rest of their lives, surrounded with family and friends. Their friends are too numerous to be able to mention, but she loved them all. Nancy taught co-op pre-school at Warren's First United Methodist Church, where she was also a long time member. Nancy was an active member of First United Methodist and was always willing to serve and volunteer as needed at church, The YWCA, and the library where she was a member of the friends of the Warren-Trumbull Library.
Nancy enjoyed traveling with Fred, tennis, golf, Jeopardy, games of all kinds, especially her Trivia Groups and Bridge Clubs. She will certainly miss and be missed by all the wonderful friends she had in those Trivia Groups and Bridge Clubs. Nancy was an accomplished swimmer and was a member of the Warren Olympic Club, where she was undefeated in mother-son competitions, always exciting the crowd by coming from behind given her sons' lack of swimming prowess. Fred and Nancy were able to spend many winters in Arizona enjoying the weather, activities and their many Arizona friends.
Memories of Mom will be carried on by her sons, Bradley G. (Joanne) Andrews of Boise, Idaho and Brian W. (Linda) Andrews of Wadsworth, Ohio; brother Bill George of East Palestine, Ohio and sister Linda (Larry) Dolinsky of North Ridgeville, Ohio; and her sister-in-Law Winifred Mielchein of Sacramento, CA, and the families of Bill, Linda and Winifred. Nancy was a tremendous and dedicated Mom, but an even better Grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, Alex, Ryan and Lauren, who cherished their time with her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Gail in April, 2012 and her husband Fred, whom she shared life and love of over 60 years, in March, 2015.
Family will receive friends Monday, January 4, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home in Warren and one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Yesudas Devadan officiating.
Nancy's family suggests contributions be made in the forms of a donation in memory of Nancy and her beloved daughter Gail Andrews to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406,
