It is with great sadness that the family of Michael C. Briach announces his passing on Friday, September 14, 2018 at age 65. Michael passed away in his residence after an eleven-month battle with pancreatic cancer. During those eleven months, he inspired everyone with his uplifting spirit and tenacious courage to keep fighting.
Michael was born in Youngstown, Ohio on September 5, 1953, the son of the late Michael and Rose Lamanna Briach. He was a graduate of Boardman High School.
Michael was employed for 15 years in the maintenance department at Wal-Mart. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Austintown, Ohio. Michael adored the game of golf and continued to play up until three weeks before he passed. He treasured coaching his son in baseball and watching his grandkids play sports.
Michael leaves the love of his life, Lynda S. Sisson Briach, whom he married September 22, 1990; a son Michael R. Briach; two stepdaughters, Sandra L. Drewek (Ted) and Amy M. Phillips (Steve); five grandchildren, Teddy, Caitlyn, Andrew, Jared, and Lexie; the loyal friendship of Robin James and Lee Bell; and his faithful, furry companion, Bosco. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Michael appreciated the simple things in life: fresh coffee, great conversation, and listening to his beloved talk radio. He took pride in never owning a cell phone and marching to the beat of his own drum. Michael will be most remembered for his witty phrases, quirky sense of humor, and abundant kindness. He reminds us all that every day is another opportunity to have a good day.
