Maxine R. Hicks, 86, of Warren, died 9:10 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born March 29, 1919 in Slippery Rock, Pa., the daughter of William and Lucille (Dixon) Reesman, and had lived in the Warren area for over 60 years.

Maxine attended Kent State University, Youngstown State University, and Slippery Rock State University, and had taught in the Warren City Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. She belonged to the Trumbull County Bridge Club, the Retired Teachers Association, and had been a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Martha L. "Molly" Rink of Warren; three grandchildren: George William (Chasity) Rink III of Youngstown, Kelly Ann (Matt) Rink Marlowe of Liberty, and John Michael Rink of Warren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, John C. Hicks, Jr., whom she married November 2, 1940 and who died April 26, 1993; her son, Roy C. Hicks; two sisters: Twila Edmondson and Vera Rogerson; and a brother, Fred Meadows.

Services for Maxine will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 1, 2005 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Burt McGlawn of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday. Material contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
