Mary A. Wilson

Mary A. Wilson, 63, of Warren, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Joseph Health Center. She was born May 7, 1947 in Warren, the daughter of Clifford and Kathleen (Garrett) McKenzie, and had lived in the Warren area all her life.

A homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a great appreciation for nature, Mrs. Wilson was an active member of Warren Baptist Temple. She enjoyed going out to eat with other ladies of the church, as well as working in the kitchen and nursery. Mary often dined out with her sister-in-law, Sandra, and enjoyed shopping, as well as coloring and baking with the children.

Surviving are four children: LaVonna Woofter and Janet (Lee) Turner, both of Warren; John L. Wilson, Jr. of Sharon, Pa., and Michelle (Rob Chise) Wilson of Youngstown; fifteen grandchildren: John David Wilson, Michael Wilson, Lee Lee Turner, Carrie Turner, Cassidy Woofter, Timothy Turner, Stephen Wilson, Tiffany Turner, Samuel Wilson, Shawn Wilson, Meranda Wilson, Sabastien Wilson, Marycaitlyn Wilson, Dakota Wilson, and Cyrae Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Johntezz Wilson and Isaac Turner; two sisters: Martha (Jack) Bacorn of Warren and Linda McKenzie of Niles; and three brothers: Clifford J. (Jodi) McKenzie of Howland, Richard A. (Tamie) McKenzie of Garrettsville, and George (Connie) Birch of Hubbard, and several step-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, John L. Wilson, Sr., whom she married March 4, 1966 and with whom she enjoyed 42 years of marriage before his death on October 6, 2008; a sister, Kathy Henderson; and two brothers: Frank E. McKenzie and Charles Birch.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Warren Baptist Temple, with Rev. James Dittmar officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
