Mary Frances Pumphrey, formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Sumner on Ridgewood in Copley. She was born October 2, 1910 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of Claude E. and Myrtle (Hodnett) Pumphrey, and had lived in Ohio since 1927.
Ms. Pumphrey was a graduate of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, now part of the University Hospitals of Cleveland, and had worked as an industrial nurse for Packard Electric, retiring in 1972. A former board member of the Warren YWCA, she belonged to Christ Episcopal Church and had served on its Altar Guild.
Surviving are her brother, Rev. David W. Pumphrey of Akron, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; her stepmother, Sarah J. Pumphrey, who raised her; a brother, James R. Pumphrey; and a sister, Elizabeth Anne Jewell.
A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 in the chapel of Christ Episcopal Church, with Rev. Donna L. Maree officiating.
