Mary Jane Packard, 94, of Warren, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at Gillette Nursing Home. She was born November 23, 1917 in Lakewood, the daughter of Harry B. and Anna J. (Newbury) Bowen, and had lived in Trumbull County most of her life.
A graduate of the Warren G. Harding June Class of 1935, Mrs. Packard served on several class reunion committees. She had worked at the Woodland branch of Union Savings & Trust. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a 72-year member of Morning Light Chapter #80, Order of the Eastern Star, Warren Assembly #77, Social Order of Beauceants, and had been active with many other clubs and associations. She enjoyed crafts, had traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe, and spent many winters with Delmar in Treasure Island, Fla.
Surviving are two children, Harry L. (Nancy) Packard of Leavittsburg and Martha Ann (Pat) Merrick of Warren; four grandchildren: Keith C. (Kris) Packard, Denise M. (Ted) Falatic, Patrick (Dinoree) Merrick, and Cori (Stephen) Tate; and six great-grandchildren: Thomas and Matthew Packard, Rebecca Falatic, Mia and Lily Tate, and Valentina Merrick. Preceding her in death are her husband, Delmar A. Packard, whom she married September 6, 1941 and who died December 13, 2002; a son, Rev. Charles D. Packard; and two sisters, Charlotte Drescher and Virginia Rowland.
Her life will be celebrated with a service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Fr. Jeff Baker of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Her urn will be laid to rest at a later date in the Christ Episcopal Church columbarium. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be conducted by Morning Light Chapter #80, O.E.S. at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
